walking into the theater i didnt know what to expect from this movie except two things one to atleast laugh a little and two to be in aww by the shocking content but however what i personally didnt expect was to attend the absolute funniest movie ive seen all year long i laughed out loud nonstop i loved the characters as well this definetly isnt for everyone kids included or anyone offended by sex humor but if you can take it i highly recommend seeing this comedy blockbuster
Most of the comedies that I love have an element of emotional weight, and ‘Good Boys’ is no exception. The film has some really bittersweet conversations about losing friendships and growing up that are sure to hit home for a lot of people. It helps push the film to the next level, and was something I really adored.

Everything old is new again.

Three naive six-graders are on a quest to get to their first kissing party, but get detoured along the way. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s the same plot as “Superbad” only with younger kids. From having to score drugs to selling a sex doll, these kids get into all kinds of ridiculous hijinks that provide only a mild laugh now and again.

My main problem here is the rehash. Why? “Superbad” is a far superior movie, probably because of the knowledge the characters bring to the table. These kids know next to nothing about the world, a fact that’s played up to a maximum extent time and again. By the end of the movie, I was ready to throw my hands up in the air saying “Alright! I get it already.” And the characters don’t really develop to a significant extent. They remain just as naive at the end of the movie as they were at the beginning.

As a result, we wind up not just with a rehash of “Superbad” but a rather stagnant one at that. It can be cute at times, but overall we learn nothing along with the characters and our lives are not richer for having seen this movie. It’s a cute diversion, but nothing else. Take it for what it is, or don’t. My recommendation is that if you have anything else to see, you’re probably better off seeing that instead.
It’s not very good, and it is very derivative but man, I guess I’m just a sucker for jokes about drug use? For whatever reason I pretty consistently find it genuinely funny. Probably says more about me than it does about _Good Boys_, but whatever, it’s fine.

_Final rating:★★½ – Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._

Charmingly funny.
Not a cliché comedy at all.
A little heavy on the Uber references, but still a movie that can be watched multiple times.
(Saw at a pre-screening in Seattle.)
A truly funny and immensely heartwarming _While You Were Sleeping_-esque romantic comedy. It’s actually not fair to compare this to any other film because the story here is wholly real and not fabricated for the screen. This is Kumail Nanjiani’s real life story about how he met his wife and it’s incredibly moving.

While Kumail and Zoe are both really great, the heart and soul of the movie is Holly Hunter and Ray Romano. They are truly superb and every scene they share with Kumail while Emily is in the coma is spectacular. I would watch this movie from start to finish again right now if I had it in me – it’s incredibly taxing as it’s an emotional ride; I cried maybe 4 times throughout the movie.

It’s amazing how reliably brilliant Holly Hunter always is and I hope she garners some awards attention for this performance. It truly moved me. Her delivery of “_Do you mind?_” before she gets into bed with Romano at the end was such a beautiful character moment.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I saw this while I was working my ass off in a foodtruck at an outdoor cinema. I missed whole chunks of it, and it certainly didn’t have my full focus. I’ll give it a proper chance at a later date, and alongside that, another review. What I did see of _The Big Sick_ certainly held potential for me, I even had one genuine laugh, but American comedies rarely if ever resonate with me. I know this one plays it at a very different angle to your standard Sandler-esque faire, and I appreciate that, but I wasn’t brought in enough from what I caught to get on board.

_Final rating:★★½ – Not quite for me, but I definitely get the appeal._
**Brainwashed!!!**

Here’s the most overrated film, not just for the year, but forever. The title says it all, a big sick flick. Just remember, it was only based on the real, not a biopic. Because they have changed entire storytelling to cinematic convenient. To fool the people from the actual truth. So the terrorists are shown in a good light. Good humans won’t support such barbaric people.

It’s a shame that American Academy Awards recognised it. Only best thing in the film were the Holly Hunter and Ray Ramona. Even in the real life characters, they were brainwashed, along with Emily. Totally skippable film. Instead, I would strongly suggest to watch ‘Punching Henry’, ‘Obvious Child’, ‘Sleepwalk with me’ and even ‘The Vow’ or you you could find many more in film database. Don’t waste your time with it!

Good watch, probably won’t watch again, but can recommend if you can handle a medical emergency adventure.

If you’ve seen “A Fault in Our Stars”, this has a similar vibe for a lot of it.

I’m a fan of Kumail Nanjiani, and I like Emily Gordon more, I’m honestly a little disappointed she didn’t star in her own story, but I understand her reasons. Zoe Kazan, Ray Ramono and Holly Hunter are great in this, they all felt very natural.

Now, I know Kumail is the lead, and a good portion of the story focuses on family nonsense, but (even though she’s in a coma for a lot of it) Emily is equally a star in the story. That’s what this is about, because it’s (pretty much) a true story of two people coming together to form one life, and it is SO personal….so very personal. I almost think Kumail wanted to make the movie just so he could stop telling the (rather long) story in person, “Just go watch the movie.”

I know that a lot of it is just truth, but the adaptive writing for this is excellent, the structure keeps a well balanced pace between all the events happening, we have (lots) of loss and (powerful) gains. There is even a good bit of comedy worked into the story, but it is hard to handle the heavy weight of Emily’s medical story. It might be affecting more due to the timing of it in my life, but, regardless, it’s there. It doesn’t make for the most upbeat experience.

Emily, obviously, makes a recovery as it happened in real life, and now Kumail has a movie to remind her that he saved her life *eye roll*.

The end is very uplifting, and sometimes it is nice to see a piece of history on screen, but do be aware that is what this is, for the most part.

For Mithran (Jayam Ravi), the protagonist of Thani Oruvan, a person’s friend shows his character while his adversary shows his capacity. Mithran is a young IPS officer whose only goal in life is to find a worthy rival — a kingpin who is the root cause of all other crimes — and destroy him. He meets his match in Siddharth Abhimanyu (Arvind Swami, making a glorious return), an ambitious scientist-businessman, for whom money is all that matters. This is how Mohan Raja sets up the conflict in Thani Oruvan, an efficient thriller, which packs a mighty punch. Raja’s films so far have been competent remake efforts, but nothing prepares us for the smart writing (the director has co-written the film with writer duo Suba, whose experience in pulp novels comes in handy as it did earlier this year in Anegan) and the sleek filmmaking we see here.

The plot kicks in once Mithran learns of Siddharth’s plan of sabotaging a deal that would result in cheaper medicines for the poor and tries to thwart it without his knowing, but the wily Siddharth manages to succeed. Realizing that he has an opponent who will not stop until he is defeated, Siddharth begins a cat-and-mouse game with the cop. There are some terrific moments — the scene where an assassination plan swings both ways, the scene where Mithran discovers Siddharth has paid his place a visit, the scene where two lives depend on Mithran finding a bug, the scene where Siddharth negotiates with the chief minister. What is refreshing is that, to a large extent, Raja manages to avoid diversions in the form of romance and comedy. Mithran’s batchmate Mahima (an ideal Nayanthara) is in love with him, but she isn’t just a love interest. She is intelligent (a forensic expert) and fearless and an essential person in Mithran’s battle against Siddharth. In fact, when he says that he is ready to give up his life in order to bring down Siddharth, it is Mahima who makes him see his flawed approach to stopping crime. Yes, we get some fun moments with Thambi Ramaiah, who plays Siddharth’s father, but it is never at the cost of the narrative.

Thani Oruvan is a bit too long (Siddharth enters the picture quite late), there are leaps of logic (like the one involving a dubbed video evidence) that we are asked to turn a blind eye to, but such downsides are minimal. And even though it is a plot-driven film, the film gives us well-rounded characters, who lend the slightly far-fetched story plausibility. The film doesn’t shy away from showing Mithran for who he actually is — an angry young man whose ideals have turned him into an almost psychotic person. Crime, for him, is an obsession. What keeps him grounded are his fellow cop friends and Mahima. Jayam Ravi’s body language — the purposeful strides, the clenched fists, the stern face — displays the determination of the character but doesn’t really capture the craziness of the character.

But Arvind Swami aces the role of Siddharth. He projects the insouciant arrogance that tells us not to be taken in by his classy style which hides the character’s toughened hide, and it is no surprise that we even root for this character, the villain, when he makes his moves against the hero. ‘Show me your enemy and I’ll tell you who you are’, the film tells us in the beginning. With Siddharth, the film shows that you could paraphrase that statement and get the recipe for a thriller — ‘Show me your antagonist and I’ll tell you how effective your film is’.

This is definitely your regular Indian style film, but the script was top notch, that’s the vast difference you would find in this. It was a cop-thief clash theme something like the Korean film ‘Veteran’. Initially I thought it might be a remake of some Korean film, because it looks like a Korean thriller, but after learning that it was an original, I was amazed. Because, you know, the director has a nick name called remake Raja. He’s known for bringing the Telugu blockbuster to the Kollywood. That’s not bad and I’m not against remakes, he sure did do a wonderful job with those projects to succeed.

The actors were brilliant, especially like everybody saying Aravaind Swamy in a negative role stole the show. The plus point was minimizing the musical track. I mean the narration was not interrupted by unexpected and unnecessary musics and dances like usual Indian films does, except on one occasion I think. The two and half an hour was too long, but that’s the average Indian film length and totally worth it.

Not easy to predict, but in a few segments you would know what might come in the next scene. Because it might be an awesome film for the Indian audience who are seeing it for the first time, but in the world stage it is just an above average with partial cliché. There were a couple twists, the ending was excellent too, and looks like a follow up might come. My only disappointment was they missed a wonderful opportunity to make this film more realistic in the line of ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’. Instead, they opted to narrate it more commercially appealing way.

So if you are an Indian or watch regularly Indian films, you would find it great. I was impressed with the film’s promotions and it did well at the box office. Now it is getting remade in a couple of other languages, I hope they would as well do well. The brothers; the lead actor and the director did many projects together, but this one was a very special and will be a game changer for their respective career. So you might need to check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. I’m not saying it is a masterpiece, but if you know Indian cinemas, then would learn how unusual it is.

If you loved the first How to Train Your Dragon, you’ll absolutely love this movie. If you are a frequent user of Tumblr, you’ll want to capture SO many moments in .gif format. If you’ve never seen the first movie, you’ll still love this movie, or at least, like it.

Essentially, this movie is great. It has all that a child could desire in a film (trust me, the kids in the theatre LOVED it – it was super cute) and it also had some absolutely hilarious moments for the adults. The plot is pretty good; even if it is predictable, it’s predictable in a way that works. The animation is gorgeous. The voicework is awesome. The way all of the characters have grown over the 5 year gap between the two movies in the series was really well done and evident, not just in appearance, but also in their personalities and interactions with each other.

In any case it was a lot of fun! Go watch it, even if you don’t have kids.
Like I said a couple of year ago during ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2’ review, it’s a terrible title for a sequel. The host, Neil Patrick also said the same thing during the 2015 Oscars. But in the digital world, slight change in the title makes random in order. I mean on the computer and web world, it won’t show in order. Even sometime it might get lost in a vast number of other titles if they dare to chance the first word in the title for a sequel. Other than that they are not stupid as many people think. That’s why they highlighted ‘Dragon’ boldly than the rest of the words.

This part two was not much different to its first. The story continues five years after Hiccup recovers from his injury. He and his pet, Toothless discovers a new land during the survey for the map. So their’s adventure begins, but end in a trouble and forces all his people from the town to involve and fight against the rising evil force that tries to conquer them all.

Like I always say, those days are gone, now animated movies are for all ages. This was a very nicely and carefully written screenplay, did not fail to deliver. Very close to the impact the first movie made, but due to simplicity it stayed a couple of steps behind. Developed well with a bit of suspense, thrill and entertainment. Nothing more we could have asked, a perfect follow-up and hoping to explore beyond lot more in the upcoming movies in this series. Four years gap between the movies is a nice idea and fine breathing space for this franchise fan. A movie must be seen by animation fans, especially if you have already seen the first then don’t miss it.

The first one was good and the second is not any worse.

This series is standing out of the pack for its complex plot involving several topics, not just the typical ones in an animated movie. Arguably, they have been also treated in former movies; two main characters which are crippled (Finding Nemo …), greater involvement of strong female roles (although, still, not as main characters and utterly in need of help from the male roles), ecology, etc.

The points I dislike the most is the speech of homeland being the good “peacekeeper” nation forced to use violence to keep it (peace). Quite hypocritical but, clearly, addressed to the US audience.

The repetitive line of story about the (nerd) hero who is the only one to save the world is quite tiresome too.

Finally, how lightly some other traumatic causing topics are treated: finding that a parent abandoned their child, death, etc …

In any case, this is a good movie, funny and with an interesting story. Worth watching for a franchise that, I think, doesn’t have all the attention it should have.
